Description
The Path shows a view down the street from my home in Burbank, California. I’ve walked this path a thousand times, but the light and shadows are always different depending on time of day and season. I took reference photos, adjusted the colors and contrast in Photoshop, and then painted the scene in oils while adding lots of color-layers, and pushing the hues further.
I’m inspired by compelling visual stories, intense contrast, brilliant colors, and the hand-of-man dancing with nature. Transitional times of day (sunset, sunrise) and dramatic skies especially bring me joy. I’m constantly on the lookout for an inspiring combination of location and light.
My Artistic Inspiration…
I’m a cityscape oil painter passionate about bright colors and deep contrast. My inspirations are the fluid light, dramatic vistas, quiet neighborhoods and stark landscapes of California and the Southwest. I paint with a vibrant palette and expressive brushstrokes to share my vision of an essence of the urban experience. I hope that the viewer will be inspired to see the world around them in a new, beautiful light.
This work is rendered in many layers of oil paint on gallery-wrapped canvas.
